Trigun - Young Vash and Knives

"There you are!"

Knives resisted the urge to groan when Vash stopped just within the periphery of his vision with an expression of barely restrained excitement. The chair suddenly tipped back under Vash's weight but Knives did nothing more than swat at Vash's arm. When Vash continued to say nothing, Knives glared suspiciously at his brother's reflection in the monitor.

Vash noticed immediately that he had Knives' attention.

"Hey! I was reading!" Knives protested when Vash spun the chair away from the bank of monitors and pulled his resisting twin to his feet. Vash only got a few steps toward the door before Knives planted his feet and refused to budge.

"You can read later," Vash pleaded as he tugged on his brother's arm. "I've got something to show you now!" When it looked like Knives was still unmoved, Vash adopted an injured expression. "Come on, Knives. It won't take long. I promise."

"I'm busy."

Vash's face fell when Knives turned away but he didn't let go of Knives' hand until he took a step toward the recently vacated chair. The older twin felt the badly suppressed murmurs of Vash's disappointment in his mind and hesitated, feeling uneasy and guilty. Knives stared blankly at the monitors of data and, against his better judgement, relented.

"This had better be good," Knives said as he returned to Vash's side.

Vash's smile was blinding. "Of course! Don't you trust me?"

Knives smiled but didn't answer.

Also, in case you're wondering what they're wearing, it's those ugly uniforms that Rem gave them. More or less. I couldn't remember what the bottom half looked like...
